How to Get AccuWeather RADAR on Google Earth

by Dan Howard

AccuWeather is a popular weather website that features local, national and international forecasts and radar images. Google Earth's customizable KMZ file format allows users to load custom overlays into the Google Earth application, including AccuWeather radar maps. You can download and install the AccuWeather KMZ plugin from the Google Earth Community forum site.

1

Open your web browser.

2

Copy and paste the following URL into your browser's address bar:

3

Press the Enter key and then click "Save File" to save the KMZ Google Earth code file to your computer.

4

Double-click the downloaded file to open it in Google Earth. Doing so runs the Google Earth application and loads the AccuWeather radar plugin.

If you also have Google Sketchup installed on your computer then double-clicking the file may open it in that application; if this happens, close Google Sketchup. Then right-click the file, click "Open With," and then click "Google Earth" to load the radar plugin in Google Earth.
