IP based video surveillance systems enable users to view their home or business over the Internet from virtually any remote location that has Internet access available. Once an IP camera is configured for access over the Internet, viewing video typically does not require any special software or hardware installed on the remote viewing computer. Connect to a remote IP security camera and view video using a web browser.

1

Open Internet Explorer.

2

Type the IP address and port number of the IP based security camera into the address bar at the top of the Internet Explorer web browser window using the format “http://1.2.3.4:xx” replacing “1.2.3.4” with the IP address of the camera and “xx” with the port number of the camera. Tap the “Enter” key.

3

Type the user name and password of an account that has permissions to access the IP camera if prompted, and press the “Enter” key. The video will now display in the Internet Explorer web browser window.
